Honestly, I saw a lot of concerts that were better, musically, than almost all of the GD shows I saw in the 90's. Most of them were disappointments and, as you implied, I was there mainly for the scene and the friends. Did I have a good time? For the most part, yes, but I stopped traveling long distances and mainly saw them in my immediate area. I also almost never listen to any of those shows, there is so much better stuff out there. I much prefered Jerry's side projects to the Grateful Dead in the 90's. In a lot of ways, while there were moments in some GD shows, it just seemed to me that he was going through the motions and mailing it in most of the time, which caused the rest of the band to try to pick up the slack, which didn't really work for me.
